April 25, 2016 – Wichita, K.S. – The National Association of Publicly Funded Truck Driving Schools (NAPFTDS) and FASTPORT announced today a formal agreement to connect Veterans with accredited truck driver training programs participating on the CDL Academy Track. The agreement also includes leveraging FASTPORT’s JobMaps™ as the online placement office for participating CDL academies.
“NAPFTDS has dedicated itself to creating a cooperative network that promotes public education for those entering the transportation industry,” said Laura Kingsland, President of NAPFTDS. “By working in tandem with FASTPORT on the CDL Credentialing Track, we will be able to reach more Veterans who are actively seeking new careers so we can help them make an easier transition into the trucking industry.”
NAPFTDS represents 114 publicly funded schools from 33 states across the country. To provide the highest quality, cost-effective and up-to-date training available, the association shares resources with school and industry partners. In addition, NAPFTDS gives its members access to a nationwide forum of transportation advocates.
“As a leading association in the transportation industry, NAPFTDS is answering the call to provide training and education to our nation’s Veterans so they are prepared to enter the civilian workforce,” said Brad Bentley, FASTPORT President. “Military experience makes Veterans hard-wired for success in the trucking industry. The training NAPFTDS member schools provide will ensure Veterans have every opportunity to capitalize on the abilities that the Armed Forces instilled in them.”
“Our formal agreement with NAPFTDS on the CDL Academy Track is an important step toward our mutual mission to help lead the trucking industry’s Veteran hiring initiatives,” continued Bentley. “NAPFTDS has shown incredible foresight to take this step with us, and we look forward to help educate and hire the next generation of talented drivers into the industry.”
