FASTPORT and Health in Transportation announced that Michelin North America, Inc. would be giving each of the first 50 Transition Trucking Driving for Excellence nominees the CDL Health Scanner app as part of this year’s award package.
“I would like to thank Michelin for sponsoring the app for this year’s first 50 nominees. For 40 years, I’ve been working to help improve the health of drivers. Nearly 80% of disqualifications [that result from a DOT physical] are caused by high blood pressure, dangerous blood-sugar levels and OSA (sleep apnea). This app not only alerts drivers that they are in dangerous territory health-wise, but it also links them to specialty health coaches who can guide lifestyle changes that will transform their health situation”, said Bob Perry, President of Health in Transportation.
“The CDL Health Scanner allows drivers to quickly scan key vitals using either their iPhone or Android device. The system utilizes the NuraLogix technology to measure Blood Pressure using transdermal optical imaging delivered via their smartphone camera. When combined with the driver’s BMI data, the scanner can accurately provide details about risk factors like hypertension, type-2 diabetes and even sleep apnea,” said FASTPORT President Brad Bentley.
The U.S Chamber of Commerce Foundation’s Hiring Our Heroes Program (HOH), Kenworth, and FASTPORT will award the new Signature Edition 100th Anniversary T680 truck to a deserving veteran who has entered the trucking industry during the previous year. The nomination period is open from now until July 31, 2023. Full criteria and online nomination package are available at https://www.transitiontrucking.org/nominate.
