The US Department of Labor Veterans’ Employment and Training Service (DOL VETS) has selected FASTPORT to participate in the Employment Navigator and Partnership Pilot (ENPP). The pilot was initiated by the DOL to directly assist transitioning service members, and their spouses, by leveraging the services and expertise of the many non-governmental organizations.
Throughout this pilot, FASTPORT will use its workforce development expertise and industry networks to connect the transitioning military community to the nation’s leading training providers and employers who have recognized the need for skills-gap training and understand the value of military talent.
“VETS is glad to have FASTPORT on our team as one of our many Employment Navigator Partners said Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary, James D. Rodriguez, Veterans’ Employment and Training Service, these partnerships are intended to improve transitioning service members, and their spouses’ employment goals. We are committed to partnering with organizations who are leaders in providing our service members, and their spouses with specialized opportunities.”
FASTPORT has recognized expertise as a leader in employment, as evidenced by its role as “accelerator” in the White House 90 Day Challenge, position in the White House’s Supply Chain Task Force, position in the Center of Excellence, and as the DOL’s Industry Intermediary for apprenticeship programs.
As an Industry Intermediary for the DOL, FASTPORT is dedicated to promoting apprenticeships as unique, flexible training systems with on-the-job training to allow candidates to become masters of their craft, while providing employers with the gold standard for talent development. Transitioning service members and their spouses represent the best of this talent pool and are in high demand from industries across the country. To help these candidates achieve their career goals, FASTPORT will provide services such as education on high-demand occupations and industries along with relevant labor information and to act as a navigator for resources so the military candidates can find “good fit” partner organizations.
Companies are looking to hire veterans because they can bring a unique skillset to any job position. Veterans have high retention rates and therefore reduce employee turnover rates for companies. When enrolled in an apprenticeship, veterans will have access to GI Bill® benefits which can be accessed while participating in an apprenticeship program.
Nearly 26,000 apprenticeship programs are registered with the DOL from nearly every industry. With this variety, Veterans will be able to find an industry career in an industry in which they are interested. After completion of an apprenticeship, apprentices will have the opportunity to turn their experience into a permanent position with their company, allowing them to elevate their career to the next level through on-the-job training. Additionally, with an industry certification, individuals can expect a higher average salary compared to those without specialized training.
The Employment Navigator and Partnership Pilot (ENPP) provides one-on-one career assistance at 18 select military installations worldwide. This support is in addition to the formal DOL Transition Assistance Program (TAP) classroom instruction and with the mission to help transitioning service members and their spouses secure meaningful and lasting post-separation careers.
