This week, the FASTPORT team reached Soldiers at Fort Campbell, KY in order to educate them on the real economic opportunities that the trucking industry offers. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, commercial driving positions in the United States are expected to grow by 11% by 2022, and the demand for drivers is currently at an all-time high. Because Veterans are hard-wired to succeed in commercial driving professions, The Trucking Track sought out Soldiers from all MOS’s to provide access to these careers.

To help Soldiers get easy access to their new civilian professions, we introduced them to the Trucking Track Mentoring Program. On truckingtrack.org, they are able to compare and contrast thousands of jobs by filtering them to their jobs specifications, including how often they would like to be home, where they’d like to work, and how much they would get paid.

In addition to seeing all this necessary  information in one place, Soldiers also saw that they could request expert industry mentors who are available to help them navigate the transition process from the military to civilian careers.

Industry leading employers dedicated to easing that transition and answering Soldiers’ questions about the trucking industry include Airgas, Clean Harbors, Holland, J.B. Hunt, Maverick, Penske, Ryder, TMC Transportation, Transport Company of America,  Werner, SPO Logistics, and YRC Freight. Collectively, these employers have committed to hire over 25,000 veterans and are aggressively recruiting to meet those commitments.
