June 22, 2015 – FASTPORT co-founder Jim Ray will speak alongside President George W. Bush, Former First Lady Laura Bush, Admiral James A. “Sandy” Winnefeld, Dakota Meyer, and Soledad O’Brien at the highly anticipated veteran transition event Mission Transition: Creating Employment Opportunities for Post-9/11 Veterans and Military Families this Wednesday, June 24, 2015.
The George W. Bush Institute (GWBI) and U.S. Chamber of Commerce established Mission Transition to celebrate the great work companies have already done to motivate, hire, and inspire veterans, and it will serve as a launching point to develop ideas to extend the effort. CEOs from our nation’s most influential companies will attend the event, and the U.S. Chamber has selected a number of trucking carriers who have had a positive impact on veteran hiring to attend as well.
“We couldn’t be more excited to showcase the amazing work the trucking industry has done to improve the lives of veterans,” said Jim. “The unprecedented progress the Trucking Track has made over the past year is astounding even to me, and Mission Transition is the ideal platform to enhance our industry’s reputation on a National scale.”
The unique event will feature other influential speakers such as:
President George W. Bush. President Bush will interview two veterans about their experiences in “A Conversation with Your Commander-and-Chief.”
Admiral James A. “Sandy” Winnefeld, Jr. As the ninth Vice President of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Admiral Winnefeld is the nation’s second-highest ranked officer.
Tom Perez. Perez, the U.S. Secretary of Labor and member of President Obama’s Cabinet, has actively promoted equal rights for veterans in the workplace.
Dakota Meyer. Meyer is the youngest recipient of the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan.
Soledad O’Brien. CEO of Starfish Media Group, Soledad O’Brien will discuss her recent documentary “The War Comes Home”.
“We are honored to have the opportunity to speak at Mission Transition and to represent the trucking industry and its collective achievements in providing real economic opportunities for our veterans,” said Bill McLennan, CEO of FASTPORT. “Through the Hiring Our Heroes Trucking Track and FASTPORT’s technology, the industry has partnered to hire 150,000 veterans into great careers with great employers, and we are well on our way to reaching that goal.”
